The other day, I was helping my dad relocate some mining claims,
when we came up to this pile of rubble. He started telling me that this
had been an ore chute. He described how his father, and father's partner,
had taken the frame of his old 1930 Ford, attached a pickup bed to
it with two bolts, and then they used that device to haul ore down
from the tunnel far above this.
As I understood it, the car's steering apparatus
was intact, and they actually coasted and steered this contraption straight down
the side of the mountain, filled with dirt.
That's about the time that I snapped this picture,
not really caring about composition or even clarity ... I just wanted to
make a photographic "note", so I would remember the details of
the story.

I took several photos at the same time; same location, same angle,
same settings. Only this one contains these effects. These are what
photographers and paranormal Art Bell fans refer to as "orbs".
|
When I first looked at the photo, I thought it must be some
reflection problem with my lens ... but a closer look gave me
pause.
First off; notice the shape of it. It is not symmetrical, like
the shape of my camera lens. Neither the center, nor the
"aura" if you will, are perfectly round.
Notice that it appears to flatten out where it would seem to make
contact with the old beam in the background.
Look closer! What about those dark circles on - or in --
it?

If the orb is the result of light reflecting on the lens, what would
explain those circles, which appear to be between the orb and the
camera? Specks on the lens? OK.
But NONE of my other photos have corresponding specks. Nor do any
similar patterns appear in any other part of the photo -- or any other
photos.
|
Now, just for the sake of completeness ... look again at the original
photograph, and tell me that you don't see a (very faint) blue swirling
trail. How do you explain that?
I showed this picture to my father, pointing out my observations
pretty much as above.
He snickered and said, "Well, I guess it's
the ghost of that old prospector."
Go ahead! Laugh.
